Nigerian financial operating platform Bujeti has unveiled BRAIN (Bujeti Real-time Agent Intelligence Network), an AI agent workforce built natively on top of its core business ledger.
The Y Combinator-backed startup introduced four specialized AI agents—termed “Teammates”—designed to automate repetitive, manual corporate finance workflows using the financial records, contracts, and vendor data already stored within the platform.
The network entered private beta on September 16, 2026, with full public availability slated for September 30, 2026.
The Four AI “Teammates”
Rather than deploying a single, general chatbot, Bujeti divided routine corporate finance operations into four domain-specific AI agents that share context across a single ledger:
-
Fetch (Head of Document Intelligence): Scans linked email inboxes, cloud storage, and accounting software to retrieve invoices, receipts, and bank statements. It extracts metadata, assigns a confidence score, and flags low-confidence items for human review.
-
Chaser (Head of Accounts Receivable): Automates debt collection and invoice follow-ups across WhatsApp, SMS, and email. It can negotiate structured payment plans for liquidity-constrained clients and escalate active disputes to human managers.
-
Watchdog (Head of Financial Controls): Continuously monitors transactions, vendor activities, and corporate contracts for policy breaches, unexpected costs, or fraud risks, issuing real-time risk alerts.
-
Concierge (Internal Policy Navigator): Functions as an automated internal finance assistant, parsing company handbooks to give staff immediate, cited answers regarding corporate spending rules and reimbursement limits.
Human-in-the-Loop Safeguards & Intelligence Architecture
Bujeti enforces strict security guardrails around financial execution to mitigate model hallucination and unauthorized capital flow:
-
Reversible vs. Irreversible Execution: Reversible tasks (e.g., categorizing data, drafting emails) run automatically, while irreversible actions (e.g., moving funds) require human authorization. Agents only prepare proposed transactions for human sign-off.
-
Model Orchestration: The system employs an orchestration layer that routes specific operational tasks to the most optimized large language models rather than relying on a single AI model.
-
Model Context Protocol (MCP) Integration: Bujeti announced the upcoming Bujeti MCP, enabling external AI tools (such as Claude or ChatGPT) to securely query a company’s ledger subject to strict permission controls.
Led by co-founders Cossi Achille Arouko and Samy Chiba, Bujeti currently serves over 1,000 business teams across Nigeria and Kenya, managing multi-currency operations across USD, NGN, and KES.
