Cloud bills, AI tools and software seats eat an early-stage runway fast. A handful of global programmes will pay for them, if you know where to look and how to apply.
Here is a guide to 11 accelerators and perk programmes open to early-stage founders. They range from free tools to credits worth up to $350,000 and a $1 million investment prize. Most ask for a company email, a live website and a registered business. Terms change often, so read each programme’s page before you apply.
Start with a simple idea. Credits are not cash, but they are money you do not have to spend. A founder who covers cloud, analytics and AI costs with credits can put real cash into hiring, sales and customers.
The biggest numbers come from the cloud giants. Google for Startups has two tiers. The Start tier gives up to $2,000 to young firms with a working product. The Scale tier gives up to $200,000, or $350,000 for AI startups, to firms with venture funding. Cloudflare offers three tiers too. Bootstrapped firms that raised under $1 million can get $10,000. Larger tiers reach $100,000 and $350,000 for funded startups. Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub starts with about $1,000 in Azure credits and needs no investor. Higher tiers of $25,000 and $150,000 unlock through usage or a partner referral. AWS Activate has a self-funded track worth up to $5,000, and a $200,000 track for startups referred by an investor or accelerator.
Smaller programmes can still save a lot. PostHog gives $50,000 in credits for product analytics. The company must be under two years old and have raised under $5 million. Gmail addresses are rejected, so use your company email. Vercel offers up to $30,000 in hosting credits, but only through a referral from one of its VC or accelerator partners. ElevenLabs gives 12 months of access to its voice AI, with 33 million credits, to firms with fewer than 25 staff. Notion offers free months of its Business plan. You get six months with a partner code, and three months without one.
Two programmes work differently. NVIDIA Inception is free and takes no equity. It offers training, tools, preferred hardware pricing and a chance to meet investors, and you can join at any stage. Anthropic’s Claude for Startups offers up to $7,000 in products and credits. That includes a one-time $1,000 API credit and a free year of Claude Team, plus partner offers. It is open to firms founded within five years or funded within two.
The Pitch by Deel is a contest, not a perk. Up to 100 regional winners get a $50,000 SAFE investment, and up to 10 global champions compete for $1 million. A SAFE is an investment, so it is equity, not free credit. The 2026 season has ended, and Deel has not yet set 2027 dates. You can join the waitlist now.

So how do you find and use these programmes well? Five habits help.
First, get your basics in order. Most programmes want a registered company, a working website and an email on your own domain. Set these up before you apply. A professional look can be the difference between a yes and a no.
Second, match the programme to your stage. A bootstrapped founder should start with Microsoft, AWS Founders, Cloudflare, NVIDIA and PostHog. Those need no investor. Funded founders can reach the larger tiers.
Third, use your network. Vercel, Notion, AWS and Microsoft all give more when a VC, accelerator or partner vouches for you. Join a local accelerator or hub. Ask them for partner codes and referral IDs.
Fourth, apply once and apply well. Many programmes allow only one application per company. Explain your product, your users and how you will use the credits. Be specific.
Fifth, plan your credits. Most expire after six to twelve months. Build on the platforms you already plan to use. Do not rebuild your product around a free offer, because the bills come back when the credits end.
Why it matters: African founders often raise smaller rounds than peers abroad, and they pay for cloud and software in dollars. Credits cut that cost directly. They also give you tools, training and mentors that most local budgets cannot buy. A founder who stacks several of these can run for months on far less cash. The same programmes also act as a quiet signal to investors, because they show you can find and use resources well.
What to watch next: the reopening of The Pitch by Deel for 2027, and whether Deel adds African regional finals. Also watch for changes to credit sizes and rules, since several programmes have moved their terms this year. And watch whether more African accelerators become official partners, because a partner code can unlock the larger tiers.
