Want to learn a tech skill without paying full price? Music producer Don Jazzy has teamed up with TS Academy to cut tuition by up to 100% for Nigerians who want to learn digital skills.
Don Jazzy, the founder of Mavin Records, announced the Don Jazzy Tech Scholarship 2027 on 26 October 2026, with TS Academy as the training partner. Awards cover up to 100% of tuition, depending on the award, and reports put the top value at ₦447,000. Applicants pick one course from a list that includes AI, data, cybersecurity and software development. Fifty laptops and data support for up to 500 students are also on offer. Applications are open now, and slots are limited.
Here is how it works. You apply online, choose one course and say whether you need a laptop, a smartphone or internet data. TS Academy then reviews your form and contacts successful applicants by email and phone. The discount depends on the award you receive, so it may not always reach 100%. In a short video on X, Don Jazzy said that “education is key.”
The course list is wide. Reports name AI and automation, data analytics, data science, cybersecurity and software development. Others include frontend and backend development, DevOps, cloud computing, product design and digital marketing. You will also find product and project management, graphics design, content creation and virtual assistance. Some listings include more, so check the portal for the full menu. Most courses are described as beginner friendly. You can switch courses until the first cohort starts.
| Benefit | What to know |
|---|---|
| Tuition | Up to 100% off, depending on the award. |
| Top value | Reported at ₦447,000. |
| Laptops | 50 for selected students. |
| Data | Support for up to 500 students. |
| Extras | Projects, mentorship, internships and job support. |
Some details need care. The ₦447,000 figure is the reported top tuition value. It is not cash paid to you. You also still pay an application fee, with a discount. TS Academy’s usual fee is ₦26,500, or two payments of ₦13,250. Laptops and data go only to students with a genuine need, and they depend on supply. Support for internships and jobs is offered, but it is not a promise of work.
Who can apply? One report says you must be at least 18, or have a parent’s or guardian’s consent. It says students, graduates, NYSC members, and people who are employed, self-employed or unemployed can all apply. A degree is not listed as a must. Beginners and people with some tech experience are both welcome.
Timing is the part to check. One report gives 30 November 2026 as the closing date, while other reports and the programme page, as of 27 October, show no date at all. The first cohort starts on 28 February 2027, and one report lists later start dates of 30 March and 31 July. Apply early and confirm the dates on the official portal.
Before you pay anything, ask four questions. Does the award cover full or partial tuition? What is the exact fee you must pay? How long is the course? What does the scholarship ask of you in return? TS Academy says it is accredited by the American Council of Training and Development. That is the academy’s own claim, so look at the accreditor’s records if it matters to you. You can find the form at donjazzy.tsacademyonline.com.
This is not Don Jazzy’s first step into tech education. Earlier reports say he paid ₦1.5 million to help 100 young Nigerians learn to code. He also gave ₦20 million to a project that aims to put laptops in the hands of 10,000 young people.
Why it matters: Nigeria has millions of young people who want tech skills and few ways to pay for them. Tuition, a laptop and data all add up. A scholarship that takes on all three, even in part, can open real doors, from data jobs to remote work to starting a company. A famous name also pulls attention to the need. For founders, it is a way to get your team trained, or to build the skills you need to run a tech startup.
What to watch next: the official closing date, the number of places and how many laptops reach students. Also watch which courses fill first, and who is chosen for the first cohort in February.
