Credit, Not Grants: FG Launches C.L.I.C.K.D. Programme to Finance Laptops and Digital Tools for Nigerian Talent

The initiative launched on July 21, 2026, in Abuja is the C.L.I.C.K.D. Programme (Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices)—a structured consumer credit and device financing scheme enabling eligible working citizens and digital workers to access financing for productivity tools with flexible repayment terms.

Jointly implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) and the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, C.L.I.C.K.D. directly addresses the “device gap” in Nigeria’s technology ecosystem.

While millions of young Nigerians are acquiring in-demand digital skills, the upfront cost of laptops and internet hardware remains a primary barrier to employment, freelancing, and remote work.

Phase 1 (Pilot Phase)

• Target Audience: Active fellows in the Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) and Learn2Earn programs requiring work-ready devices to complete technical training.

• Initial Deployment: 1,000 locally assembled laptops, with an initial 77 units presented directly to beneficiaries during the official launch at the Afreximbank African Trade Centre (AATC) in Abuja.

Phase 2 (Nationwide Expansion)

• Target Audience: Broader categories of working Nigerians, including salary earners, freelancers, self-employed creators, and students enrolled in other talent programs (such as ALX, AltSchool, Andela, and HNG).

• Supported Devices: Laptops, smartphones, tablets, connectivity routers, and digital learning equipment.
