Egyptian DeepTech startup Reme-D is dismantling this dependence by building localized, temperature-resilient diagnostic infrastructure from North Africa.
The Cairo-based molecular diagnostics manufacturer has closed a $1.45 million pre-Series A funding round led by Anara Impact Capital, with participation from the Global Innovation Fund (GIF), Africa Health Ventures, and additional regional investors.
The transaction comes just months after Reme-D secured a $500,000 equity injection from the Global Innovation Fund in April, signaling strong institutional backing for homegrown African life sciences manufacturing.
Scaling Capacity: Moving to a 1,500 sqm Production Hub
The fresh injection of capital will fund a massive operational expansion aimed at increasing Reme-D’s manufacturing output tenfold.
To achieve this scale, the startup is transitioning its team—which has expanded from five to 50 employees—into a state-of-the-art 1,500 square meter manufacturing facility equipped with upgraded automated production systems.
