African tech founders are about to get a new stage. They can explain their choices live, in front of the people who follow them.

Fatu Ogwuche, who worked at Meta before turning to media, has launched Tech This Week. It is a weekly livestream on X and LinkedIn for African tech builders and their audiences. The show aims to give founders and operators a direct way to explain their decisions, not just share the headline. The launch was reported on 22 October 2026.

Ogwuche is the founder of Big Tech This Week, an independent media platform that began as a hobby while she was still at Meta. It runs a newsletter and a presence on YouTube, Instagram and X. She also hosts Backstories with Fatu, a YouTube interview series that began in November 2023. Her first guest was Kola Aina, a founding partner at Ventures Platform. He spoke about how his firm helped when the agro-crowdfunding startup ThriveAgric ran into trouble repaying investors. Later guests were set to include PiggyVest’s Odun Eweniyi and Olumide Soyombo of Voltron Capital.

The new show uses live talk instead of polished edits. That fits the way she works. Media host Andile Masuku has praised her research-heavy style and her knack for getting guests to speak openly.

The choice of platforms is telling. X and LinkedIn are where many founders, investors and tech workers already talk shop. A live show there meets them in the place they read and post. A live format can also let viewers ask questions in the moment.

There are open questions. Live shows need steady viewers and guests who are willing to talk plainly. Founders often share their wins. Few are keen to describe what they cut, what failed or where a product went wrong. How well Tech This Week draws out those details will shape its value.

Why it matters: Much African tech coverage focuses on funding rounds and launches. Founders and would-be founders also need to hear how real choices get made, including the hard ones. A live show can offer that, and viewers can push back or ask for more. If guests talk openly, it could become a useful guide for people building in African markets.

What to watch next: the first episode date and guests, how many people tune in each week, and whether guests share honest lessons about failures and trade-offs as well as wins.
