Defense and infrastructure technology company Terra Industries has executed a commercial partnership with Nigerian mineral extraction firm Promethean Resources to deploy autonomous surveillance systems across its mining corridors.
The commercial agreement was formalized in New York at the Nigeria-U.S. Strategic Investment Dialogue, held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81). The signing was witnessed by high-level government and trade officials, including Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and representatives from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Deal Overview & Technology Deployment
Security risks, remote operational geography, and long emergency response times have long hindered institutional investment in Nigeria’s solid minerals sector. The partnership introduces an automated security stack designed to protect personnel and high-value extraction assets from perimeter breaches and security threats.
| Operational Parameter | Strategic Details |
| Partner Companies | Terra Industries (System Integrator) & Promethean Resources (Operator) |
| Signing Venue | Nigeria-U.S. Strategic Investment Dialogue (UNGA 81, New York) |
| Core Technology Stack | Autonomous surveillance towers, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), and Artemis OS |
| Initial Deployment Zones | Mining and processing sites in Plateau and Kaduna states |
| Target Minerals | Tin, lithium, gold, lead-zinc, and rare earth elements |
The deployment leverages Terra’s Artemis OS platform—an AI-driven data intelligence operating system—integrated with solar-powered autonomous surveillance towers and uncrewed aerial vehicles to deliver continuous, 360-degree real-time monitoring across remote concessions.
De-risking Nigeria’s Critical Minerals Sector
Nigeria produces high-grade deposits of critical minerals, including tin, lithium, niobium, and rare earth elements necessary for global energy transitions. However, the lack of persistent site security has historically forced operations into low-capacity models or informal extraction.
Promethean Resources—led by Managing Director Demola Gbadegesin—operates exploration, extraction, and joint-venture assets across Kaduna, Plateau, Bauchi, and other states. By automating physical site security, the company aims to move from raw material export toward localized processing and industrial value addition.
“Mining operators run critical assets in places with thin security coverage and long response times. Our systems will give Promethean persistent surveillance across its sites, so we can autonomously spot threats early, respond faster and keep people safe.”— Terra Industries Representative
Aligning with the U.S.–Nigeria Critical Minerals Framework
The agreement directly advances the objectives of the bilateral U.S.–Nigeria Critical Minerals Framework Agreement, which seeks to secure mineral supply chains while building domestic processing capacity and high-skilled employment within Nigeria.
By pairing international defense-grade technology with local mining infrastructure, the commercial partnership demonstrates how automated security systems can lower operational risk, attract foreign direct investment, and safeguard domestic mineral processing plants across West Africa.
